All callings are important

Acts 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, 6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

These six men, full of faith and the Holy Spirit! I love it. They were chosen to serve the widows and such. The Spirit always leads us to do the right thing. And a task like this required the very best. Some callings are to teach the word of God anointed by the Spirit yet others equally called to serve the practical needs of the body. Where the hiarchy in the church put greater importance upon priests and pastors, well, not the case at all. Yes those are very honorable callings, but only the Lord is to be revered and glorified! Jesus came to serve, not to be served! Jesus took the lowly position and washed feet. Jesus got down lower than the harlot degraded by the religious leaders to take the focus off her. Stephen and gang are amazing Spirit filled brothers whos practical service allowed the apostles to dedicate their time to Gods word. That is a well tuned engine, a united front, a healthy church.
