Dont settle for idols, keep Jesus

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

John ends on this short exhortation. Keep yourselves from idols. They will rob you of a true relationship with God. An idol, being anything exalted in the place that only God belongs in our lives, becomes idols. There are many potential idols. Also any attempt to make God into someone He isnt, becomes an idol. The Word of God keeps us from such. Jesus is the only true God, the exact Image of the Father. Its easy, in this life, to even twist and contort Jesus to fit our schemes. The Word of God diffuses that. Stay away from, keep yourself away from these idols. You can be a religious person while having idols. A relationship with Christ by having His Spirit indwelling in us, exposes these idols. Im keeping myself for Jesus!
