Dowsing the Flame!

Acts 6:1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; 4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

The Spirit was moving, the disciples multiplying, great things happening! Then came the attack. Justified? Maybe, but still, complaints about neglected widows? Any negligence will become evident! Weaknesses will be exposed, and its impossible to avoid these issues yet how do you deal with them? The Spirit filled church did exactly what needed to be done. Appointed men over this ministry and freed up the apostles to teach & preach Gods word, focus on the word. From time to time, these various kinds of issues arise in the church. This is unavoidable, but the leadership must be great listeners and Spirit filled in order to navigate these waters. We seek to serve the need at any opportunity. We seek to serve Jesus to all we are entrusted with.
