Flattery?

1 Thessalonians 2:5 For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness—God is witness.

The christianity of the bible verses what is seen displayed on tv is vastly different. It was in Pauls day as well. Those that flatter really dont care about you, they want your stuff! Being a classy & nice person is good. I have found, I need to stretch and challenge myself to find the good in others, to compliment their God driven accomplishments. This doesnt come natural. What seems like baby steps may be huge to others and shame on me if I dont encourage them as Jesus would. Yet flattery, well I dont see any good reason for it. These are lies. They dont mean those words but want something in return for those words. Some "christians" use these satanic flatteries to gain wealth, or power, or whatever selfish thing they seek after. Paul never did & God was his witness. Thats good enough for me to follow after.
