Follow Jesus

Mark 1:16 And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

I beg you, chew on this text a bit! Let the magnitude of what is being done set in. Jesus is walking on the coast, calls out to these men to follow Him, leave their jobs! Walk away from all they know! Why? To catch men rather than fish? Absolutely! See, this wasnt the 1st time Jesus came across their path. A year has gone by. A year to count the cost of following Jesus. A year to allow Gods plan & desires to grow within them. The Lord will not force you to do anything. I believe, by experience of my own, Peter & gang wanted to follow Jesus at this point. All it took was a invitation. A simple call from shore. "This job doesnt satisfy my craving for my purpose in life! I was made for something more than just fish! Peter would indeed catch men for Jesus, thousands! I have had this similar experience with Jesus, no not on a lake, but when Jesus called me out, I didnt fight Him no more. I embraced what it meant to follow Jesus! I think too many individuals today are looking for God to just call them to some great ministry when they never took the year to personally evaluate the cost of that decision. I dont have the time to detail what I mean by this, but there are lots of areas in our lives we must settle before a radical move as this! But hey, we only live this life once, go all in for Jesus!
