Hear Jesus' word, do His word. Build on the Rock.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:

27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.

So, if I hear Gods word and obey or act on His word, that is equal to building on a sturdy rock, or elevated mountain. The storms will come regardless of you obey His word or not. Seems by this text, your obedience keeps you from complete devastation and fosters hope.

The other option is to hear and not do, Gods word. Those same storms will devastate those who reject Gods protective word for them. Great is the fall or unrecoverable is the fall. Jesus is this Rock of salvation. The world is the sands.
