Love is Granted to us

1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.

Behold, or look intently at, the degree of love that the Father (close relationship) has bestowed (given a grant, intrusted to) us. Has this ever happened in the history of humanity? This love has never been displayed or known outside of the Fathers love toward His creation. It is an unconditional love. In fact, the greek language had to add this word agape because every other term for love did not describe Gods love. So in light of this, John points out the highlight and focus of Gods love is evidenced in that we are accepted by Him as His children. You are wanted. You are loved. The adopted child had all the rights and benefits as a biological child did.
