Loving your enemies.

Matthew 5:43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

44“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

Now, why did Jesus have to raise the standard here? The rabbis taught, what other rabbis taught concerning who your enemy was. Hate is equal to murder in Gods eyes. How impactful: Jesus says to love them. Bless them. Do good unto them. Pray for them. Its hard to continue to hate someone as you pray for them. The hate will turn to genuine love.
