New Wine in New Wineskins
Jeremiah 16:14“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 15“but, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.
What a glorious picture of hope. What we read here is God promising a greater work, deliverence than that of coming out of Egypt. A new work, a looking forward, not behind. We have a huge problem, well lots of them, but one being, looking behind us for our better days! Stop that! Our greater days are ahead of us in Christ. Yes, the past deliverances are glorious, but the ones ahead are also. I love what God has done in past revivals, the Jesus movement and all. Make no mistake about it, those days are past and the Lord wants to do a new thing. I dont believe we are going back to those days in exact duplications. Im excited to see what that great deliverance will be, and I will be honored to be a part of it. The Lord lives who does a new thing among His people. I dont know how He will move this next time however I believe the atmosphere is ripe and that He will. He looks for a few Spirit filled folks to pray and expect Him to do whatever He wants as He brings in His harvest! If God would perform another Jesus style movement, would the church be ready or willing to embrace it or resist it? Many churches resisted receiving into their churches those young, dirty, long haired hippies! I must, we must cry out to the Lord, change my heart! Prepare me God!
