Prayer leads us to love

2 Thessalonians 3:5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

How will the Lord direct your heart by His love? He doesnt force His will upon us! The only way I know is through prayer. Again, you must settle what prayer is and what you want achieved through it. Prayer is God opening up our limited minds to His limit less power. Its seeking His will on earth as it is in heaven. Through prayer, we take up His attributes and one being love. We wont walk in love if we dont get our focus and heart upon Jesus.
