We are all on a level playing field. God has no favorites.

Galatians 2:6 But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.

Pride in man, can bring us to the place of this false deception about ourselves. Even what others think of us. The best pride can do for us is make us "seem" like something. Only God truly makes us somebody, but only as we humble ourselves and submit to Him. We then discover God isnt loving us based on our works, but solely by His grace. Paul knew he had nothing to add apart from Christ. This heart is the christianity I know and have thrived well on. Like Paul, I spent to many years, wasted to much precious time, thinking I was something but then I met Someone who was Something who continues to make someone out of my nothing.
