What does the blood say?
Genesis 4:9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.
11 “So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12 “When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.”
Cain, void of a living relationship with God, yet answers Him, with defience and disrespect, when asked about where his brother is. Now, when God asks a question, He knows the answer. He encourages us to seek the answer. Deep down, he knew he was wrong and yes, cain, you are your brothers keeper. God states that his brothers blood cries out, meaning justice is demanded. But even more, we are eternal beings. The blood of Jesus speaks a message as well. Our sin put Jesus on the cross but His blood crys out grace and mercy unto us who recieve His sacrifice. No condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Abels blood cried out justice. Jesus' cried out mercy.
