How Important is Intercessory Prayer
Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
Jesus will go pray to His Father three times this night and all those times return to a sleepy tired group of disciples. Not one of them could muster the strength to stay up and pray during Jesus' most stressful time of His life. All of darkness was about to show its ugly head upon Him leading up to the cross and Jesus was all alone.
Now, I've always seen purpose in this passage but lately, this has been personal. I, we, all go through seasons of life when it seems everything is going wrong! You just need a few people to stand beside you and comfort you through the difficult fight. The reality is, there are times when God allows your stand to just be you and Him alone. Not anything negative about others, but sometimes we don't do a good job of communicating our stresses and fights with others or maybe we cant! This night, in the garden, is to me the most powerful moments recorded in the gospel. I hope and pray others come beside you during your time of distress, Lord knows I desire that, but Im also aware that sometimes, its just going to be you and the LORD! He will bring you through anything. I want to always make myself available to my brothers and sisters so they wont face life alone because of passages as this! Jesus wanted His closest friends to pray with Him. Will you make yourself available to be an intercessor for others?

This is what we are called and commanded to do. We bear each other's burdens, being faithful not to bare their struggles to others. Intercessory faithful prayer can change the situation, the one who needs prayer, and the person who is praying. Communication with the Father always brings about change.
