Can You Understand Spiritual Things?
John 3:9 Nicodemus answered and said to Jesus, “How can these things be?”
Jesus had just told Nico that he must be born again to enter heaven. Nico may appeared to have a stupid answer, but he was a very smart and educated person in Gods law. He spot on is an example of a natural mindset toward Gods Spiritual Words. Anyone who is of a natural mind will never understand Gods words. They seem a mystery to them. I remember growing up in a home with two spirit filled parents and went to church every Sunday my whole life. Yet I didn't truly understand Gods word until I invited Him into my heart. Now, just because you are born again doesn't mean you understand everything in Gods word but now you have access to understand it and experience it in ways you never could before. I really respect Nico's question here and his honesty. A great question asked to Jesus is better than 100 answers or more by any other. He will get his answer from the God who created him. Its ok not to know something but its not okay to remain ignorant. We, who have the Spirit of God living in us, can now discern spiritual things by spiritual means. Just like this natural world has physical senses, so are we now equipped with spiritual senses for God. We taste, touch, smell, see, & hear of God when an unbelieving world only sees in this current dimension. Like Elisha had to inform his servant after being surrounded by the enemy, look out past them and you will see the armies of God surrounding them!

I like that we can see the spiritual things in daily life. Not just at baptism, or when we first believed. We can see it at this devotional time your having, or as we sit in our house, or at our job. We can see God moving in so many things. When God gives to us, and even when He takes away. It's like He is always moving. "I have seen the good hand of God, I have seen Him moving in this place." You know like that lovely song.
