Counting The Cost To Being Christ's Disciple

Acts 14:19 Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. 20 However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Can we do everything right and still face hardship?  Paul did.  He was stoned, drug out of the city, & left for dead.  They only left him because they thought he was dead.  They didn't even want to concern themselves with his wellbeing.  These are religious people!  Its no wonder the multitudes went out to John to get baptized.   Its no wonder the words and actions of Jesus drew so many!  Who wants to follow a religion that's fruit is hatred and murder?  I don't!  Jesus instills life, grace, mercy.
The disciples huddle around him, he comes to and wakes up, moves on.  What?  They continue in the proclaiming of the gospel.  I love it!  Its almost like they expected this kind of welcoming and still signed up for Jesus.  Its as if they counted the cost of following Christ.  To live is Christ, to die is gain.
