George Wishart (1546)
Wishart was a Scottish preacher of the gospel of Christ. While in college, he was "infected" by the Reformation movement. He chose the hard difficult path against the establishment religious corrupt system. Wishart was a preacher of the people, serving the common man, and coming alongside the sick. James Beaton, now a Cardinal, once again sought to destroy this Christianity fire spreading over the world. Its interesting how satan has no new plays. Over 1500 years previous, Jesus faced the establishment that not only didnt know Him, but killed Him. Beaton ordered Dundee to kill Wishart but as he was ready to stab him, acted in love toward him. Dundee fell to his knees & pleaded for forgiveness. Wisharts ability to serve the gospel to common folks in the midst of life & death made him special. Beaton, again hired a man to kill Wishart but this time was successful. Minutes before Wishart died, he was caring for others. He asked God to forgive these whom condemned him to death. As he burned outside of St. Andrews Castle in Scotland, Cardinal Beaton watched from inside deceived thinking now all is well! Wisharts revelation and proclamation of the simple word of God made him an enemy of the Catholic church! Such deception of men who carry on the work of satan and kill Jesus' body again and again!
