Thursday Passion Week
Luke 23:39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Jesus was tried and sentenced to death on Thursday. Church tradition is only fine if it lines up with the Bible. Often, the traditional sites in Jerusalem, aren't accurate.
What Im suggesting here, on Thursday, is controversial, but not because its unbiblical, but because of church tradition. Good Friday is the recognized day Jesus was crucified right? In my opinion, and by biblical accounts, that is incorrect. Weekly Sabbaths we are going by but fail to reconcile the feast days which were sabbaths also. Passover was on Thursday sundown to Friday and the weekly sabbath was Friday sundown to Saturday. Plus, Jesus said 3 days & 3 nights. Thursday night to Sunday morning is exactly 3 days & 3 nights.
Now, these 2 murderous thugs who were crucified next to Jesus. They both begin mocking Jesus but 1 acts upon some conviction of the Spirit. He sees the fact they belong there but Jesus does not. He asks Jesus to remember him when He enters the kingdom of Heaven. This is equivalent as believing Jesus is who He claimed to be. God who came down from heaven. Jesus said, today, you will be with Me in paradise! By grace this ex thief was saved. Not one good work did he do but believe in Him whom God sent. Our LORD is gracious beyond comprehension. Jesus would die and laid in the tomb. The next few days will be silent on earth, but make no mistake, Jesus was creating a stir by emptying paradise, the grave of all those whom believed in His coming. He would lead captivity to heaven!
I like to call this, Good Thursday!

Triumphant Jesus. Overcoming death, hell and the grave, freeing captivity, taking a man with him who had recognized Him as the Son of God. This is our Savior, Jesus, freeing us from the enemy and making the pathway to the Father. What magnificent love is this?
