Requirement for Salvation
Acts 16:30 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved
This Jailer just witnessed a miracle and he is convinced that this Jesus Paul preached while under his watch, is God! As men, we always want to do something to earn what we receive. The question he asked them is quite common, what must I do for my salvation, to be counted worthy of eternity with God? The answer is simple and don't take it hard. You cant do anything! Your works and actions will never give you life. You must trust and believe upon Jesus Christ, in all He has done for you. His sacrifice was well pleasing to the Father and received. The evidence of this is the Resurrection! You must simply believe upon Jesus and that His blood was shed for you. You will confess your sins unto Him and He will forgive you those sins. You will give Him your hard broken heart and He will replace it with a soft, whole, new heart able now to walk with God. This is a statement, believe and you will be saved! LORD I believe and help me in my unbelief! Paul will say in the letter of the Romans that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is LORD and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!
