Old Men in the Church Needed

Titus 2:2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

These aged men are much needed in our church today. In a society that often discards its elderly, Jesus Christ enlists them in a very important role in proclaiming sound doctrine to the world. Life has a way of calming men down but life experience alone doesn't ensure these qualities. The man that is submitted to Christ will reflect Christ through all that said experience. I've been blessed to witness many men like this in my life. Men of astounding faith. Not moved by fear. Men who can calm a raging storms by the faith they place in their LORD. Men who can see a path of victory in the midst of chaos. Men who exhibit the love of God even though they have endured more in 1 year than man young have dealt their whole lives. John the aged, boiled in oil to kill him, did not die but instead became more loving to folks and exhibited the love of Christ. Patience with the younger men who claim to have great earth changing ideas. Allowing them room to fail but then succeed. What if the aged man didn't get to learn his difficult lessons while young? Would he of really turned out as well? We learn often through failures. Thomas Edison discovered over 1000 ways a lightbulb wont work. But he finally got it thank God. I know with certainty that the aged man has failed many times while learning what will work. LORD, thank You for establishing the aged man in our churches! We are all better off with them.
