Samuel's Amazing Parents
Elkanah had two wives: Hannah & Peninnah. Hannah was barren and Peninnah was salty and rubbed her fruitfulness in Hannah's face. People can be mean!
1 Samuel 1:5 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb.
Elkanah was a good man. When he brought sacrifices for his family, he would give a double portion for Hannah, desiring for her to be greatly blessed by the LORD. What Hannah went thru, Elkanah was limited to help alieve her pain but he did what he could.
Peninnah provoked her every year when they went to the temple of the LORD, why? Being barren is bad enough for a woman to deal with but also adding ridicule?
1 Samuel 1:6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb.
This is what the enemy will always do, attack, depress, discourage. Fact, the LORD closed Hannahs womb. Now, whatever God does is for good. This amazing story has just begun for her. Hannah is in the best place she ever could be if God is involved. What has been a big pain in your life? Trust God, He makes the story. Take your barrenness unto the LORD. Take your pain to Him.
