Unhealthy Concerns
1 Sam 4:16 Then the man said to Eli, “I am he who came from the battle. And I fled today from the battle line.”And he said, “What happened, my son?”
17 So the messenger answered and said, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been a great slaughter among the people. Also your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead; and the ark of God has been captured.”
18 Then it happened, when he made mention of the ark of God, that Eli fell off the seat backward by the side of the gate; and his neck was broken and he died, for the man was old and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.
This father, Eli, just hears his rotten sons were killed and no reaction. This is not a godly characteristic. God doesn't rejoice or love the death of the wicked. I believe He mourns possibly. You can reject your kids sinful lifestyles, seek to proclaim truth but a good father will never be okay with the loss of their kids. Something is not right here. He hears then about the Ark being captured and falls backwards and dies. Personally, the report of my kids dying would be way worse than the loss of a religious item. The greater issues is the loss of life. God can and will work out the Ark issue! There is no pain worse than when our children are misguided when it comes to the LORD. The only thing worse is like here, they die in that state. For all you parents out there, my prayer is for our kids. The ones that are seeking God and the ones who are not. May the LORD pour out His grace on our prodigal kids. We want them to succeed in life but most of all, to be born again of Gods Spirit.

Amen and amen.
As a parent of two grown children, I've wondered if they have become the way they are because of how they were raised. They both know who God is. My son knows, believes and follows. My daughter knows but doesn't believe or follow. Eli gave up on his sons. His heart was hardened because of it. I will never give up on my daughter. It's not up to me. It's a choice she has to make. I can try to influence her. God has definitely worked through me with people around me. But He may have someone else other than me to reach my daughter.
nMy prayers are to all the daughters (and sons) that don't know the Lord and to those that do know the Lord but CHOOSE not to follow. Amen!
